WHAT MAKES OUR INFRARED SAUNA UNIQUE

Not all saunas are created equal. Although most of these detoxifying cabins look similar, our Infrared Technology is superior for detoxing, healing and relaxing. Infrared heat is gentle and safe, providing many health benefits without the extreme heat and humidity of a traditional sauna.

Traditional saunas generate heat by circulating hot air, but Infrared rays warm you directly by penetrating into your body to affect deep tissue and organs – producing a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where most toxins reside.

With the restorative warmth of the infrared heat and the healing properties of colored light, a 45-minute visit to our private infrared sauna spa will help you to relax, tone, and glow.

Book an appointment with our infrared sauna in Chicago any time you need to rejuvenate; then prepare for the rest of your day with a shower and use of our beauty bar afterwards.

ABOUT OUR INFRARED SAUNA TECHNOLOGY

Infrared sauna technology provides you with a safe, comfortable, and healthy way to experience the same energy and warmth emitted naturally from the sun. Our search for the most advanced infrared technology led us to Sunlighten Sauna’s Solocarbon 3-in-1® Infrared Technology - what we consider to be the superhero of detoxification. The mPulse Series is the only line of smart full spectrum infrared saunas in the world including, near, mid, and far infrared technology.

Our luxury infrared sauna also features chromotherapy: LED colored lights that restore balance by means of applying color to the body. Sunlighten Sauna’s advanced technology works by using three wavelengths of light - near, medium, and far - to heat different parts of the body, rather than the air around it. This “full spectrum” of infrared light raises your internal body temperature to a point where water molecules within your joints, muscles, and tissues vibrate to easily break down. This breakdown increases circulation and accelerates oxygen flow, allowing toxins such as radiation, heavy metals, and other environmental chemicals to pass out of the body through sweat.

One of our main focuses at Freeze & Float is cleanliness. After each session, we disinfect the sauna with non- toxic cleaning supplies. Infrared heat kills 99% of bacteria; however, we still require all clients to sit on the. provided towels to ensure a clean and sterile environment. Additionally, our Sunlighten sauna is made from hypoallergenic fragrance-free eucalyptus wood that is untreated and free from harmful chemicals.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR INFRARED SAUNA SESSION

Our infrared sauna is cozy and dry, not sweltering and humid, with temperatures ranging from 110 to 155 degrees Fahrenheit (conventional saunas range from 160 degrees and up.) However, we are always happy to adjust the temperature to achieve your desired experience. Our Infrared Sauna heats you gently and slowly, relaxing you. You may find that it takes about 10-15 minutes to begin sweating, however once the body temperature increases it is a deep detoxing sweat. With increased usage you will likely notice an increased ability to sweat more productively. After sweating you may notice glowing skin, diminished wrinkles, muscle and injury relief as well as a sense of relaxation.

It is important to stay properly hydrated; you’ll need to drink plenty of water before, during and after your sauna session. You can go nude if you would like, as more skin exposure is preferable, but be sure to put down a towel to absorb your sweat. Swimsuits or any lightweight apparel are fine as well. We recommend wearing comfortable and loose fitting clothing after your session.

A standard sweat session at our Freeze & Float Spa around 45 minutes. Post sauna it is important to rinse off immediately with a warm shower to remove the toxins from your skin and cool down naturally while your body continues to perspire. Sit or recline with a towel wrapped around you for a few minutes, then enjoy the use of our upscale locker room, invigorating showers, or our well-stocked beauty bar. There is no need to bring anything with you!

Infrared Sauna FAQ

  • How important is hydration before an infrared sauna session?

Most people do not drink enough water to begin with and now that you are using an infrared sauna and sweating, it is even more important to stay properly hydrated. Always drink plenty of water before, during and after your sauna session.

  • What do I wear to my sauna session?

You can go nude if you would like as more skin exposure is preferable, but be sure to put down a towel to absorb your sweat. Swimsuits or any lightweight apparel are ok as well. We recommend bringing clothing that are loose fitting and comfortable to put back on after your session.

  • Do you have towels?

Yes. We provide you with two towels. We recommend that you use one towel to lay on the bench and the other one to wrap yourself in.

  • How hot will the sauna get?

The ideal temperature for an infrared sauna is between 110°F to 130°F. The radiant heat is more efficient because it warms you, not the air around you. We recommend entering the minute that we turn on your session to enjoy full benefits of the infrared. If it gets too hot, simply open the door for a minute to let fresh air inside.

  • How will I feel during and after sauna session?

Infrared saunas heat you gently and slowly, making it a relaxing experience for most people. You may find that you do not sweat for the first 10-15 minutes, or not very much at all your first time. With increased usage you will likely notice an increased ability to sweat more productively. After sweating you will feel great. You may notice glowing skin, diminished wrinkles, muscle and injury relief as well as a sense of relaxation.

  • What should I do after the sauna?

When you finish your sweat, it is important to relax and cool down while your body continues to perspire. Sit or recline with a towel or wrap around you for a few minutes.

  • Is there anyone who should avoid the sauna?

Pregnant women, individuals with pacemakers, those who have an inability to sweat. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared sauna.

  • Is it true I am still burning calories up to an hour after my session?

Yes. By increasing your heart rate and core body temperature by 3 degrees in your session, it could take up to an hour to return to normal. We encourage you to stay active before or after your session if you want to maximize the calorie burn.

  • How do you maintain the sauna?

We take cleanliness very seriously and ensure the suite is fully cleaned in between sessions with non-toxic cleaning supplies. Additionally, infrared heat kills 99% of bacteria, creating an inherently sterile environment.
